Jeremy Wheeler

Hi, I’m Jeremy Wheeler! I’m the A2AC’s Marketing Manager.

I do everything from rebranding the organization to creating much of the design and copy that you see and read while also strategically managing how we communicate various initiatives.

Originally I’m from the East Coast, but there’s also a little Pittsburgh and Grand Rapids, where I grew up.

Originally I’m from the East Coast, but there’s also a little Pittsburgh and Grand Rapids, where I grew up.

I’ve been associated with the Art Center dating back to the early 2000s–from teaching a cartooning class to DJ’ing an after-hours event.

Over the years, I’ve curated an exhibition at the Art Center with now-Board Member (and A2AC brand guru in-chief) Peter Baker, shown in and DJ’ed handfuls of exhibitions, and painted murals at tech leader Duo for a mural show that the Art Center had a hand in organizing.

It’s incredible to impact our community with the power of visual art directly, but I’d be lying if I didn’t say that the staff here is worth staying for.

Nonprofit work is hard–it takes passion, a never-ending drive, and in our case, lots of creativity!  They continually amaze me as we strive to reshape this 113-year old arts institution.

The Bang! Poster by Jeremy Wheeler

I ran a mixtape dance party called The Bang! for 18-years in Ann Arbor with fellow local artist Jason Gibner–we retired it just a few months before the pandemic.

I’ve also created the branding for notable local businesses such as Vault of Midnight and Lo-Fi, with other years-long work and partnerships with the Ann Arbor District Library, the Ann Arbor Film Festival, and 826 Michigan.

Besides working at the A2AC, I’ve worn the hat of a cartoonist, poster designer, movie reviewer, and now, a watercolor artist.

My work has reached multiple continents, been published in books, but my heart is here in Ann Arbor. At least for right now. 🙂
