A2AC Spotlight Gallery
The Anne & Howard Cooper Spotlight Gallery is a flexible exhibition space on the 2nd floor of the A2AC in the heart of the art education area. The Spotlight Gallery showcases artists working in the context of Contemporary Craft as well as painting, printmaking, illustration, and collage. Artists from historically marginalized or under-represented communities, such as LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC artists, are encouraged to apply to show calls.
The Spotlight Gallery’s call for submissions for group shows occur throughout the year. The call for solo shows occurs in September.
Artists are curated or juried into shows by the A2AC Exhibition Committee, composed of A2AC staff, Board Members, and Washtenaw County-based art leaders and practitioners. Exhibiting artists are often invited to teach guest artist workshops or to give artist talks.
Once a year the Spotlight Gallery features a group show by the dedicated art professionals teaching A2AC classes and workshops.
Opening receptions are generally in tandem with the A2AC Gallery’s receptions. Exhibiting artists are marketed through the A2AC website, e-newsletter, social media, and press releases.
