Fairy Garden Mini Mushrooms

Supplies

• Twigs
• Acorn caps and/or small rocks
• Paint (red, white)
• Glue (hot glue or super glue)
• Paint brushes (preferably one medium and one with a finer point for the details)
• Paint palette – There are tons of at home substitutions for this! You could use a to-go container, an egg carton, anything that will hold your paint.

STEP 1

Prep your paint on your palette. Don’t be afraid to experiment with colors outside of red and white. 

STEP 2

Paint the tops of your acorn caps and/or rocks. Don’t worry about trying to paint all sides right away, just paint half and let them dry.

STEP 3

After the tops have dried, pack the backs and rims of your mushroom tops. The texture of acorn caps have lots of bumps and ridges, so be mindful of covering all of them with paint.

STEP 4

After the bottoms have dried, paint dots on your mushroom tops. Try out different sizes of dots to see what you like best. Mixing and matching sizes will give them character. Different tools will also lend to making different sized and shaped dots. Try using the other end of your paintbrush, or a q-tip.

STEP 5

Once your dots have dried, apply glue to the tops of your twigs and add your painted rocks/acorn caps. Now you’re ready to add a pop of color to your garden!
