Art Talks, in partnership with the Ann Arbor District Library, is a professional development series for artists, designers and freelance creatives that are free and open to the public. Come connect with the local creative community, the Art Center, fellow artists, and attend topical talks by guest speakers.
We are excited to partner with the Ann Arbor District Library for future Art Talks! All events in the series will be presented at AADL facilities.

Topic: Cultivating a Creative Life and Career in Illustration & Commercial Art
Speaker: Kirbi Fagan
TOPIC: In this lecture, Kirbi will reveal the unpredictable process of making a book cover. Kirbi will share her own strategies for enhancing your creativity with examples of her picture making approach, challenges, successes, and limitations in life and commercial art.

BIO: Kirbi Fagan is a Metro Detroit based illustrator who specializes in creating art for book covers and comics. She is the recipient of awards including International illustrator of the Future Award, Jack Gaughan Award: Best Emerging Artist and named Muddy Color’s Rising Star. Her illustrations are known for their magical themes, nostalgic mood and feminine heroines. Recent clients include Marvel Comics, Disney, Activision/Call of Duty, Simon & Schuster and Penguin Books. Currently, she volunteers as Co-Regional Illustrator Coordinator with SCBWI and also teaches illustration at College for Creative Studies in Downtown Detroit.
