ABOUT THE ARTISTS

TreeTown Murals is a public art company, run in partnership by wife and husband team, Mary Thiefels and Danijel Matanic.

TreeTown Murals designs custom mural projects that result in unique partnerships between people, communities, municipalities, companies, schools, and centers across the state of Michigan. Their playful, illustrative, bold, and vibrant style creates landmark murals that reflect these collaborations and beautify spaces for all people to enjoy and experience.

ABOUT THE MURAL

The Eberwhite roundabout mural project is the first of its kind to be placed in Washtenaw County – creating a template for more to come.

This project brought together the neighborhood and invited residents and visitors to become involved in a unique participatory painting experience over the course of a weekend. Over 150 individuals helped to paint this mural. The TreeTown Murals lead artists, Mary Thiefels & Danijel Matanic designed and facilitated the project with the assistance of 10 emerging youth artists. The result is the complete transformation of the neighborhood concrete roundabout, now a destination for residents and visitors who can take pride and ownership of their efforts and community.

This project could not have happened without the support of A2AC friend and neighborhood resident Robin Suter, who made this project a reality.

ANN ARBOR, MI — Ann Arbor has several traffic roundabouts around town, but none more colorful than the new one in the Eberwhite neighborhood.
