ABOUT THE ARTIST
Nicole Ray is an artist and illustrator living in Brighton, Michigan.
She creates a whimsical line of art prints and paper goods under the name Sloe Gin Fizz. From quirky animal and vegetable characters to nostalgia-filled interiors and calming views of nature, Nicole’s hand-drawn scenes are highly accessible, infused with a playful sense of humor and a strong narrative quality.

“My planter pieces are about the input and output of an artist.”
“Since the two I worked on are to live outside Literati Bookstore, I knew I wanted to incorporate typewriter imagery and who better to be at the helm than a squirrel writer? Before any writer gets started, they have to be out in the world, exploring and gathering inspiration which is what squirrel is doing with their butterfly net. Once back home, they sit down to write and send those thoughts and images soaring back out into the world.”
