CERAMIC EXPERIENCE | “SHAPE & SCULPT”

Roll up your sleeves and experience the fun of clay! In this easygoing, hands-on activity, you’ll shape, squish, and mold your way through a fun exploration of shapes and forms. This is a chance to play, experiment, and discover the magic of shapes through tactile curiosity.

DEANNE NEIBURGER

(She/Her)

“Besides working at the Art Center, I am a sculptor and am currently working on a new series, returning to my roots in figurative work and combining it with my more recent work in ceramics. There is nothing so magical to me as seeing an idea of a figure in my mind and watching it take shape in front of me.  The work I create is all about that connection between people, compassion, and understanding even when no words are said.”

KRISTIN DROZDOWSKI

Michigan artist Kristen Drozdowski is the owner of creative studio, Worthwhile. Her passion is making meaningful connections through art and design. Kristen began creating sustainable printed paper goods to bring uplifting energy to everyday moments and continues to expand her offerings.

Kristen considers her art not abstract, but representational. A peaceful visual language of simple shapes and colors is expressed in each one of Kristen’s paintings, emerging through spontaneity, trust, and intuition. Her process is most influenced by spiritual connections between earth, water, light, body, and mind.

“At Worthwhile, we believe in the sweetness of personal connections, the importance of sustainability, healing through creativity & self-discovery, and in spending our time on earth doing what makes us feel the most alive.”

QUINN FAYLOR

Detroit-based artist, Quinn Faylor, grounds their work in vibrant abstraction and imaginative worldbuilding. Their compositions reflect personal experiences and environments, exploring queer embodiment, relationships, and the ecosystems they inhabit.

“My installation is inspired by my recent exhibition, Super Bloom, presented this past September with PLAYGROUND Detroit as part of Detroit Month of Design. Super Bloom featured a sculptural series built without hardware, utilizing lap joinery and self-balancing forms. These techniques symbolized balance and trust, while the forms explored themes of personal and collective growth.

“This collaboration will feature a dynamic sculpture that evolves throughout the evening. Guests are invited to play, expand, and add their own shapes, contributing to a form that inspires wonder and collective creativity.”

JENNA SULECKI-LAPPING

(She/They)

Jenna Sulecki-Lapping is a theatre artist whose body of work centers around creating safe, inclusive, and collaborative spaces for people to grow as individuals as well as artists. She spent the last decade working as a director, new works developer, and educator before joining the A2AC as their Education Director.
