Potential 2014

Potential Exhibition Ann Arbor Art Center 2014

For the 32nd year, The Ann Arbor Art Center is delighted to present Potential, an all-media juried exhibition that showcases the work of local high school artists. This exhibition will be on display in the Gallery from April 11-Mary 11, 2014.  An opening reception and awards ceremony will take place on Saturday, April 12 from 3:00-5:00 PM. Awards announced at 4pm.  This event is free and open to the public.

This year, the exhibition involves a unique partnership with Ann Arbor’s Neutral Zone, a teen center that provides creative development experiences for youth. The Neutral Zone’s Visual Art Council (VAC), a council of teens who make, exhibit, and advocate for art, participated in the jurying process this year.

Guided by adult juror and street artist David Zinn, VAC learned to use thoughtfully crafted selection criteria to make decisions about curating this exhibition. This was an opportunity for the teens to represent their own perspectives and experiences.  VAC will also collaborate with the Art Center’s exhibition team to create the vision for the show—participate in the layout and installation. This year, 13 Washtenaw County High Schools are represented in the exhibition.

The Potential Exhibition is made possible through the generous donations of Karen and Al Gallup.
