I moved to Ann Arbor 18 years ago and was immediately drawn to the Ann Arbor Art Center. I have always seen it as a part of the identity of our creative community and a place with a really cool vibe.

Potential is a juried exhibition that showcases the work of Washtenaw County high school artists. This exhibition has over a 30 year tradition at the Art Center. The purpose of Potential is to display original pieces of high school art work of the highest quality and creativity and which transcend the usual class projects and assignments
This year's juror is Addie Langford. Langford earned an MFA in ceramics from Cranbrook Academy of Art and a BFA in architecture from The Rhode Island School of Design. As a Fulbright Fellow she explored the relationship between Renaissance tapestry and contemporary collage in Madrid, Spain, where she produced and exhibited a body of large-scale mixed media drawings. Langford has held significant administrative positions as the Assistant Director of the Art School at Flint Institute of Arts, and President & CEO of the Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center, and Director of Development at ArtServe Michigan.
Along with Art Center staff, she will be giving portfolio reviews on Saturday, April 13th from 2:00-3:45 PM. Any high school student who is interested in how to prepare a portfolio for college admissions is invited to participate but must register in advance by emailing Nathan Rice at nrice@annarborartcenter.org.
The juror's talk starts at 3:45 and the awards ceremony takes place at 4:00PM. Friends and families are encouraged to attend.
The awards for Potential are generously provided by Al and Karen Gallup.
